In2020,there were118million elderly people living alone in China,29million of whom were80 or above.If even10percent of these senior citizens require eldercare services,at least11.8 million eldercare service positions are needed.Given the above-mentioned characteristics, Chinese-style eldercare is faced with numerous challenges.
